Early Voting and Vote by Mail

Notice:

In accordance with Maryland state law (HB1048 and SB683) mail-in ballot application forms will be sent to all voters for the upcoming 2024 election. If you plan on voting by mail for all future elections, you may sign up for the permanent mail in ballot list on the application.

Note: Please do not fill out and return the form if you plan on voting in person.

Important Dates

  • 2024 Primary Election: Tuesday, May 14, 2024
  • 2024 Primary Election Early Voting: May 2, 2024 through May 9, 2024 (includes Saturday and Sunday)
  • 2024 General Election: Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024
  • 2024 General Election Early Voting: Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 through Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024 (includes Saturday and Sunday)

Voting hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. for each day of early voting. For more information, visit the State of Maryland’s Board of Elections website.


Vote by Mail

Maryland offers voting by mail for any eligible registered voter, including for overseas and military voters.

General  Vote By Mail Deadlines
Oct. 29, 2024 - For a ballot to be mailed to you. the application must be received (not just postmarked) in our office by Oct. 29, 2024. 
Nov. 1, 2024 - For a ballot to be sent via internet, the application must be received (not just postmarked) in our office by Nov. 1, 2024.
Nov. 5, 2024 - For a ballot to be returned. All ballots must be postmarked, dropped off at our office, a polling place or at the ballot drop box by Nov. 5, 2024 by 8 p.m.

About ballot drop off locations

You can return your ballot by mail or you can drop it off in person at one of the drop off locations in your county. Use this sheet to find the closest drop off location. 

Ballot drop off boxes are secure 
Ballot drop off boxes are very secure. No one has access to the drop off boxes except for trusted election officials. Ballots are picked up from the boxes every day by election officials. The drop off boxes are not the property of the United States Postal Service. If you have questions, contact your local election office. 

Before you return your ballot 
Make sure that the return envelope for your ballot is sealed and that the oath is signed before returning it.
