Magistrate

The Magistrate is a court-appointed fact finder who performs some of the tasks customary undertaken by a judge. One of these tasks is to conduct a hearing to establish the facts alleged in a complaint or motion. After the hearing, the Magistrate presents her findings to the court and makes a recommendation based on those findings.

Litigants may take exception to the recommendations as outlined below. Additionally, the Magistrate or a judge may consider requests for emergency relief.
