2024 Women of the World Recognition Awards

Join Calvert County Commission for Women's 21st Annual Women of the World Celebration & Awards Ceremony. Ten leading women of Calvert County will be honored at the event. Keynote speaker: Lt. Governor Aruna Miller. Registration required by March 9 to receive an emailed link and program for the event.

Teen Dating Violence Awareness

February marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to educating, advocating, and raising awareness about the prevalence and prevention of teen dating violence. Did you know?

  • 1 in 11 girls and 1 in 15 boys reported experiencing teen dating violence (Ages 12-18).
  • 1 in 3 High School Students indicate they have experienced Teen Dating Violence.
  • Girls between the ages of 16-24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence, triple the national average.
  • 26% of women and 15% of men who were victims of intimate partner violence in their lifetime first experienced violence by that partner before age 18.

They range from the magnificent and sold-out WOW Awards Luncheon and commemorating Calvert civil rights hero Harriet Elizabeth Brown, to a now-annual Women’s Health Expo, activities to celebrate Title IX, and initiatives to increase awareness of domestic violence.
